Job Description

Last Update: 12/03/24

To prospective teammates,

I’m the medical director for Sound’s hospitalist medicine practice at Holy Cross Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I have proudly been a part of Sound for ten years and welcome interest from experienced internal medicine physicians desiring a career change. I want to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider options:

People
  • We are a closely knit, established team of 20 physicians and 2 advanced practice providers (APPs), with the support of a clinical performance nurse.
  • We are known for stability and cohesiveness. We’re expanding to meet the needs of our growing patient population, and you can benefit from our supportive work environment that encourages long-term relationships and professional growth.
  • We are actively engaged in both hospital committees and the residency program, dedicated to enhancing patient care and fostering the growth of the medical community.
  • We are seeking experienced internal medicine candidates with at least two years of hospitalist experience to join our dedicated healthcare team.
Practice
  • Holy Cross is a 557-bed hospital with full subspecialty support. Our ICU operates as a closed unit, managed by an onsite intensivist, and we maintain a responsive rapid response and code team. Importantly, procedures are not a mandatory component of this position.
  • Our team collaborates closely with internal medicine residents in the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine program, and therefore, a keen interest in teaching is a crucial requirement for this role.
  • Recognizing the importance of a work-life balance and the desire to pursue activities beyond the workplace, we work together to ensure team members can take time off when needed.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
Purpose
  • We put patients first. Always.
  • Growth and development are key features of Sound’s practice, where teammates can expand their careers here locally and within the broader medical group.
  • Our team places a strong emphasis on community involvement, and we actively support team members who are eager to make positive contributions both within and outside the hospital, thus fostering a thriving local community.
