Job Description

To prospective teammates,

I’m the medical director for UF Health Jacksonville and UF Health Jacksonville North in Jacksonville, Florida. I’m proud of the practice we have built and welcome interest from physicians and advanced practice providers coming out of training or desiring a career change. I’d like to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider options:

People:
  • We are a closely knit, established team of 33 physicians and 2 APPs, with the support of two clinical performance nurses.
  • Since we are a Level I tertiary facility, we are very involved with case management and have daily interdisciplinary meetings with them, the pharmacy, and the nursing staff. Our hospitalists are encouraged to join a committee after they complete their first year with Sound.
  • Most of us spend time with our families and enjoy the outdoors due to Jacksonville’s year-round temperate climate. We are only 15 minutes from the beach, so if you like fishing, boating, biking, hiking, or just hanging out on the beach, Jacksonville is the city for you.
  • St. John’s public school system is routinely ranked # 1 in Florida year after year and has excellent private school options.
  • We are proud to support a diverse group of providers by sponsoring H1B and J1 visa candidates. Sound offers excellent in-house visa specialists, along with licensing and credentialing experts. All required filing fees for visas are covered by Sound.
Practice:
  • As a Level I tertiary facility, we welcome the challenge of complex cases, working in a closed ICU with intensivist coverage during the day and night (our team is not expected to do procedures or run codes). The hospitals have full specialty backup and numerous residencies and fellowships at UF Jacksonville’s main campus.
  • Most of us like to spend time with our families or outdoors, so a flexible schedule is available, and we cover for each other when we’re out. Many of our providers enjoy picking up extra shifts because extra shifts come with a bonus.
  • Teammates benefit from Sound’s total rewards program, including competitive compensation from $250,000 – $328,500 and a $40k commencement bonus, along with financial, health, & well-being benefits.
Purpose:
  • We put patients first. Always.
  • A focus on growth and development is a key feature of Sound’s practices, where teammates can expand their careers here locally and within the broader medical group.
  • We are community-minded and urge team members who want to contribute in and out of the hospital to make our local community thrive.

Jacksonville, Florida residents appreciate the city for its diverse and dynamic qualities. With its extensive coastline and numerous waterways, Jacksonville offers many outdoor activities, from beach outings to water sports, attracting those who enjoy an active and coastal lifestyle. The city’s cultural scene is vibrant, featuring a range of museums, theaters, and events that cater to diverse interests. Jacksonville’s warm climate, affordable living costs, and growing job opportunities also contribute to its appeal.
