Job Summary
Job Description
To prospective teammates,
I’m the system medical director for Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio. I have been a part of Sound Physicians for ten years. I’m proud of the hospitalist practice we have built here. We welcome interest from hospitalists with leadership experience or who desire leadership for our Medical Director opportunity opening in 2025. I’d like to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider options:
People
- We are a closely knit, established team of six physicians and two advanced practice providers (APPs), supported by a clinical performance nurse. We staff two physicians and one APP per day shift (7 am—7 pm) and one physician on nights (7 pm—7 am).
- Our group comes from all over the world, including the USA, Pakistan, India, and South America.
- We are directly involved in many committees, including sepsis, code blue, stroke, etc. We work closely with nurses for our specialized Plan of Care visits. We have daily multidisciplinary rounds with case managers, nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, and pharmacy.
- Our group likes to go out together for dinner and have gatherings with our families once a month.
- We proudly sponsor H1B and J1 visa candidates, and Sound has excellent in-house visa specialists and our licensing and credentialing experts. All required filing fees for the visa are paid, and services are covered by Sound.
Practice
- We welcome the challenge of complex cases. We work in an open 10-bed low-acuity ICU with additional intensivist coverage during the day. Our team is expected to be able to perform procedures such as central lines, arterial lines, and intubation, respond to rapid responses, and run CODE BLUEs. Our APP works independently and manages its own census of patients.
- During our rounding week, we meet daily to discuss updates or raise concerns. We also have monthly wellness lunches.
- Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital has a welcoming, friendly team and medical staff. We have a seven on/7 off schedule but help cover for our teammates as needed.
- Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
Purpose
- We put patients first. Always.
- A focus on growth and development is a key feature of Sound’s practices, where teammates can expand their careers here locally and within the broader medical group.
- We’re a community-minded team and encourage our team members who want to contribute in and out of the hospital to help make our local community thrive.
