**Daytime Hospitalist or Nocturnist opportunity in Hastings, NE**
Located 100 miles from Lincoln, NE and 160 miles from Omaha, NE

- Primary market is Adams and surrounding counties in Nebraska with an aggregate population estimated at 125,000.
- Currently, adult inpatient hospital medicine services are provided by a Hospitalist Service that employs a combination of board certified physicians trained in Internal Medicine and Family Practice. Hospitalist service patient care is limited to the adult medical population.
- The medical center seeks to retain the services of a hospitalist physician to complement the existing hospitalist team.
- Candidates must be board-certified/board-eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine with clinical training in the full spectrum of adult inpatient medicine.
- The successful candidate will be actively involved in the inpatient setting, providing general medical care and management of hospitalized patients. Essential duties will include admission, care management of, and discharge of patients on behalf of primary care staff physicians utilizing the service, primary care physicians from outside communities who lack admitting privileges, specialty physicians who refer patients for admission to the Hospital or unassigned patients who are admitted through the emergency department.
- The hospitalist physician serves as the care team leader for all patients on the hospitalist service, and is responsible for the daily evaluation and management of these patients. Other responsibilities include coordination of specialist consults, provision of consultation services, and expediting the transfer of patients to the appropriate level of care and managing the timely and effective discharge of patients on the service. In the course of performing their duties, the hospitalist physician will collaborate with case management, social services, and utilization management staff to identify discharge needs, provide timely notice and follow-up with primary physicians, and consult as needed to identify non-hospital resources for patients. Documentation, including the timely completion of admission history and physical exam notes, daily progress notes, and discharge summaries are to be done using the electronic medical record. Accurate coding of visits and compliance with standard billing practices is expected. Communication with referring physicians, including primary care providers, specialists and outside referring practitioners is of paramount importance and considered to be essential to the effectiveness and quality of the Hospitalist Service. Hospitalist physicians may mentor, as needed, students, interns, and/or residents hosted by the Hospital and other medical staff and participate in administrative meetings and activities.
- Minimum requirements: MD or DO degree; Nebraska Medical License; Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine; and three-year Internal Medicine or Family Practice residency training.
