Job Description
To our prospective teammates,
I’m themedical director for Sound’s hospitalist program at Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside, California. I’ve been a part of Sound for over four years, helping maintain and grow our nationwide programs. We seek a hospitalist medical director and welcome any internal medicine-trained clinicians with leadership experience. I want to share more about who we are and what we do — specifically about our people, practice, and purpose — as you consider your options:
People
- We’re a closely-knit, established 21-clinician team with physicians, two advanced practice providers, and a CPN.
- Our team is comprised of highly experienced clinicians with a few newer doctors. Many of the part-time clinicians own private practice clinics, too.
- We are non-geographic, and clinicians work independently. Some work on a dyad with an APP.
- Oceanside is 40 miles north of San Diego and 90 miles south of Los Angeles. The community is the quintessential definition of a Southern California beach town.
- The laid-back coastal city rests along the edge of the Pacific Ocean, offering year-round pleasant temperatures and sunshine as the backdrop for endless adventures.
Practice
- The hospital is a full-service, acute-care public hospital with 365 licensed medical beds and a 28-bed ICU.
- Yearly compensation range is $300k – $360k.
- Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
- Path to Partnership program for medical director-employed physicians – the partnership is evaluated at year one, and partners can double their productivity bonuses.
Purpose
- Our hospitalist practice is very collaborative; some clinicians have worked here for 20+ years. The team is deeply embedded in the hospital; some are physician advisors and chief of staff. They are very proud of their community.
- We value and support growth and development in our hospital medicine practice, allowing you to explore new opportunities locally and within the broader medical group.
