**Family Medicine Academic Hospitalist Opening in Lake Charles, LA** Beaumont TX 1hr; Baton Rouge 2 hr Seeking a family medicine academic hospitalist for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (non-tenure, clinical track). * Appointment will be commensurate with physicians credentials and experience. * Work rotation 7on/7 off, available for night phone calls * Job responsibilities will focus on providing excellent medical care in the inpatient care setting. * Lead, supervise and teach a medicine team consisting of residents and medical students. * Coordinate with outpatient care teams and case management for the safe, appropriate and timely discharge of patients. * Participate in team meetings. * Work with the team to review and develop appropriate order sets and procedures. * Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and projects. * Ensure timely completion of all documentation and other administrative tasks to ensure smooth and seamless operational follow through. * Board certified/board eligible (or equivalent) Family Medicine physician with full, unrestricted medical staff privileges in Family Medicine. * The ideal candidate will have previous academic experience with obstetric skills, experience teaching medical students and residents, though not required. **Program & Practice Highlights** * Community health system sponsored program * Supportive Hospital administration * Tight-knit, family like atmosphere among faculty, residents & staff * Solid relationships with community preceptors * Fully accredited by ACGME for 21 years * 24 approved positions and 21 current (7-7-7) residents * Unopposed program with single site learning environment * Strong faculty with diverse backgrounds and skill sets * Family Medicine Center located directly across from sponsoring hospital * Full Inpatient and outpatient experience * Diverse patient population * Traditional outpatient practice and inpatient care * Inpatient responsibilities at Hospital * Full complement of consultants * Primary responsibilities center on the education of 21 Family Medicine residents and visiting medical students, precepting residents, didactic presentations, and 1:7 week inpatient team lead. * Medicine team consists of approximately 45 residents, and 1-2 medical students on a 4-week rotating cycle * Case management & clinical pharmacists round daily with medicine team * Open ICU * No vent management * ER physicians available 24/7 for code **Compensation and Benefits** * Competitive Income Potential * Commencement Bonus * Relocation Assistance * Student Loan Forgiveness * Paid professional liability insurance * Vacation, Holiday, Sick and CME benefits * CME, Dues/Membership reimbursement * Full benefits including medical, dental, and vision * State retirement plan or ORP with matching contributions Southwest Louisiana is a thriving community that offers a diverse mix of outdoor activities, such as hiking, biking, camping and water sports.
