Job Description
Join Our Escanaba, Michigan Team as a Hospital Medicine Physician – A Role Designed for You
We believe in bringing “better” to our local community in Escanaba—better care, better collaboration, and a deep commitment to the people we serve. We’d love to talk if you’re looking for a role that supports your professional growth and connection to a vibrant community.
People First in Escanaba
Local Team Collaboration:
- We are a closely-knit, established team of four physicians and two APPs.
Qualifications:
- Board-certified/eligible in family or internal medicine.
- We proudly sponsor H1B and J1 visa candidates, and Sound has excellent in-house visa specialists and our licensing and credentialing experts. All required filing fees for the visa are paid and services are covered by Sound.
Practice in the Heart of the Community
Flexible Scheduling:
- We have a physician scheduled seven days each week from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. (days). A physician or an APP covers our night shifts (6 pm to 7 a.m.). When an APP covers nights, the daytime physician provides call backup to the APP. Additionally, an APP is scheduled M-F from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help with rounding, admitting, and discharging.
- This role is available as full-time or part-time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Each provider is expected to participate in hospital committees and department meetings. This ensures that our hospitalist team has a voice in inpatient medicine decisions.
- Our hospitalist team manages 17 medical acute beds and seven intermediate/ICU level beds. We do not have an onsite intensivist.
Living and Working in Escanaba:
- The cost of living in the Upper Peninsula has historically been lower than the national average. Yoopers (natives of the region) enjoy many outdoor activities, including hiking, camping, skiing, boating, fishing, motorsports, and beautiful scenery. Winters in the Upper Peninsula are not for the faint of heart, but Escanaba tends to be geographically guarded from heavy snowfall.
Purpose-Driven Work with Local Impact
Escanaba-Centered Care:
- We put patients first. Always.
- At St. Francis, we are committed to bringing “better” to life—through better care, better collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to our community. If you’re looking for a role where you can thrive professionally while contributing to a vibrant community, we’d love to hear from you.
Rewards and Benefits:
- Compensation:
-
- Competitive pay with comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
- 401k with matching contributions.
- Paid malpractice insurance, including tail coverage.
