Responsibilities:
Provides guidance to the interdisciplinary team (IDT) and Ethics Committee in the resolution of conflict and ethical issues
Utilizes appropriate resources to maintain knowledge and skills for hospice and palliative care in all settings
Participates in Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program
Provides physician representation at and participation in interdisciplinary group meetings
Acts as a resource to hospice and palliative care staff, patients, family members, and physicians regarding pain and symptom management
Acts as a liaison to physicians in the community, and provides for consultation and education to colleagues related to admissions criteria for hospice and palliative care
Ensures appropriate educational experiences for visiting students and residents on area professional programs
Participates in continuing education for all staff providing direct patient care
Collaborates with the attending physician regarding the palliation and management of the patients with life-threatening or terminal illnesses
