The Position: Serve as a physician team member and provide oversight/collaboration to the care teams. Our client offers diverse opportunities across our service areas throughout Virginia. The client is offering a salary of $225,000k+, including the following benefits:

Requirements:

  • Board certified or board eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, preferred but not required
  • Licensed by the Commonwealth of VA as a Doctor of Medicine or osteopathy.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to participate in direct clinical practice.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of hospice philosophy and pain and symptom management.
  • Contribute as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient computer skills and electronic medical records required.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the territory as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Certify patient eligibility for hospice care upon admission and at the beginning of each benefit period, ensuring that all legal and clinical criteria are met.
  • Serve as the attending physician for patients without a primary physician at their request or at the request of their existing attending physician. In this capacity, provide all legally required orders for care, including signing the death certificate.
  • Act as the attending physician as requested in the absence of other attending physicians, ensuring the availability of 24/7 medical care and consultation for all patients and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Coordinate medical care to ensure competent and appropriate delivery of hospice services, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members and attending physicians to resolve care conflicts and ethical dilemmas.
  • Participate in the interdisciplinary development, evaluation, and revision of patient care plans, ensuring that each patient’s needs are met comprehensively and compassionately.
  • Provide leadership in the delivery of state-of-the-art pain and symptom management, ensuring patients experience the highest level of comfort and care.
  • Participate in the presentation of community education programs for healthcare professionals and the public, promoting understanding and awareness of hospice care.
