We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Director to lead our ACGME-accredited fellowship program within our dynamic and dedicated team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Palliative Care, medical education, and a strong interest in advancing academic research in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fellowship Program Leadership:
- Oversee and direct the ACGME-accredited Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship program at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Center City, Philadelphia.
- Develop and implement curriculum, ensuring compliance with ACGME requirements.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to fellows, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Clinical Care:
- Lead and collaborate with the interdisciplinary palliative care team to provide exemplary inpatient palliative care services.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality hospice care, focusing on patient-centered, evidence-based practices.
- Participate in clinical care as an attending physician, providing direct patient care and consultations.
- Academic Research:
- Promote and facilitate academic research within the palliative care division.
- Encourage fellows and faculty to engage in scholarly activities, including research projects, publications, and presentations.
- Collaborate with other departments and institutions to advance the field of hospice and palliative medicine through innovative research.
- Quality Improvement:
- Lead initiatives to enhance the quality, safety, and efficiency of palliative care services.
- Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, implementing improvements as needed to optimize patient care and fellowship training.
- Education and Training:
- Organize and conduct educational activities, including lectures, workshops, and conferences for fellows and other healthcare professionals.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements and best practices in hospice and palliative medicine, incorporating them into the fellowship program and clinical practice.
- Collaboration and Networking:
- Foster collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including other departments, institutions, and community organizations (i.e. long-term care programs, hospice programs).
- Represent the fellowship program and the institution at regional, national, and international meetings and conferences.
Qualifications:
- Board-certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
- Eligible for medical licensure in Pennsylvania.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in hospice and palliative care.
- Demonstrated leadership and administrative skills.
- Experience leading HPM fellowship program preferred.
- Recruitment experience of top physician candidates also preferred.
- Strong commitment to education, mentorship, and academic research.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
