Job Overview:

Requirements:

  • Credentials: DO or MD, Board Certified or Board Eligible
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year in Hematology
  • Licensure: Active Illinois state license required
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CSR License required
  • DEA: Required

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM, with on-call rotation (1:4 weekends)
    • On-call for weekly shifts: 1-2 evenings per week from 5 PM - 8 AM
    • Weekend call required (1:4 rotation)
  • Clinical Work: Primarily clinic-based, with rounding responsibilities when on call.
    • Patient Volume: Approximately 13-15 patients per day.
    • Case Mix: 65% Hematology and 35% Oncology (primarily Hematology coverage needed)
    • No procedures required
    • Patient Population: Adults only, no pediatric patients
    • Inpatient Responsibility: You will be responsible for both new and current inpatient Hematology/Oncology patients when on call, but there is an inpatient NP who assists with the process of rounding.

  • EMR: EPIC
  • Work Environment: Collaborative (you will not be working solo)
  • Call Requirements: Weekly call with a 30-minute response time
  • On Call Admissions: 0 average admissions while on call (inpatient NP assists with rounding)
