The Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks, in Fayetteville, AR, is seeking a full-time, board certified, Hematologist/Oncologist. We are fully committed to providing top quality medical care by serving and honoring America’s Veterans.

  • Permanent full-time position
  • Daily schedule, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
  • Provide comprehensive care to include diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and education of patients with Oncologic conditions in the outpatient and inpatient setting
  • Complete documentation and coding of visits accurately to ensure time care for patients
  • Evaluate, triage, and prioritize Oncology consult requests to ensure timely care for patients

Job Responsibilities

This position is located in the Specialty Medicine Service Line at the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks and report directly to the Chief of Medicine. The physician provides consultation services and follow up of medical subspecialty patients, in the inpatient and/or outpatient setting. The incumbent should have strong interpersonal skills to establish professional working relationships with other clinicians and staff throughout the facility and the Community Based Outpatient Clinics. The staff Hematologist/Oncologist will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:

Provide comprehensive care to include diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and education of patients with Oncologic conditions in the outpatient and inpatient setting
Complete documentation and coding of visits accurately to ensure time care for patients
Evaluate, triage, and prioritize Oncology consult requests to ensure timely care for patients
Conduct telemedicine visits for patients in outlying

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
