Location: California, Outpatient Clinic
Coverage Needed: Full-time, 6 shifts/week, 24 shifts/month
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Locum Hematology Oncology Physician to join our outpatient clinic in California. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse patient population in a county-based setting. The physician will provide comprehensive care to patients with various hematologic and oncologic conditions.
Work Details:
- Shifts: Full-time, 6 shifts/week, totaling 24 shifts/month.
- Patient Volume:
- Half Day: 8 patients (6 return appointments, 2 new patients—1 oncology, 1 hematology).
- Full Day: 16 patients (12 return appointments, 4 new patients).
- Patient Demographics: Primarily county patients, with a majority of Spanish-speaking individuals. A large percentage of African American and Asian American patients.
Clinic Setting:
- Outpatient clinic setting providing care for a variety of hematology and oncology patients. Common conditions include breast cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, benign hematology issues (e.g., anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, MGUS).
- Special Procedures: Bone marrow biopsy (IR team available for procedures).
Department Highlights:
- Strong team for breast cancer care.
- Lung cancer cases are often metastatic; colon cancer cases are mixed.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Board Certification: Must be Board Certified in Hematology/Oncology (BC HemOnc).
- License: Must hold an active California medical license.
- DEA Certification: Required.
- EMR Experience: Experience with EPIC preferred.
- Chemotherapy Experience: Familiarity with Beacon preferred.
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of Hematology/Oncology experience required (4 years preferred).
- Spanish Fluency: Strongly preferred, but not required.
- Strong Written Skills: Excellent note-taking and documentation skills are a must, particularly for charting and patient records.
Preferred Experience:
- County Hospital Experience: Highly preferred. Experience with county patients and working in resource-limited settings is a plus.
- Locums Experience: Previous locum tenens experience strongly preferred.
- Advanced Pathology Knowledge: Experience with advanced pathology is an asset.
Credentialing:
- Timeframe: Credentialing typically takes 60-90 days. The Chief is actively working to expedite the process.
