Position Requirements:

  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited school in the U.S. or Canada.

  • Completion of Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible by ABOG.

  • Active medical license & DEA registration.

  • Minimum 1 year of OR and Labor & Delivery experience in the last 2 years.

  • Certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).

  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Job Responsibilities

DUTIES:

·       Shall be knowledgeable of equipment and supply terminology and skill sufficient to identify and use necessary equipment and supplies properly and to communicate proper use with nurses, medical staff, patients, and family members.

·       Shall be sufficiently skilled to teach patients proper self-care and to motivate patients and family members to continue the procedures for promoting rapid healing.

·       Be proficient and competent in all aspects of labor and delivery and postpartum care. This includes managing antepartum care, obstetrics triage, intrapartum care, obstetrics deliveries (vaginal and cesarean), postpartum care, operative ( vacuum or forceps) vaginal deliveries and all obstetric and gynecologic emergencies.

·       Physician should be comfortable working with and teaching Obstetrics and Gynecology residents of various levels of experience.

·       Examine, diagnose, and treat of OB-GYN diseases, alignments and conditions when presented.

·       Prepare and review case histories and obtain data through interviews of patients.

·       Examine patients and determine required clinical laboratory tests, and diagnostic procedures such as sonograms and other procedures are required.

·       Interpret tests results and evaluate findings.

·       Prescribe specific medication(s), diet, treatment modalities and oversee nursing personnel in patient care and treatment.

·       Admit and discharge patients to the wards appropriately for obstetrics and gynecological related ailments, diseases or delivery as appropriate to patient needs and wellbeing.

·       Consult appropriate subspecialists when appropriate.

·       Perform obstetrics/gynecological surgeries medically indicated.

·       Perform vaginal and laparoscopic procedure when needed.

·       Respond to all emergencies inside the MTF, including cardiopulmonary arrests, as requested by authorized hospital personnel.

·       Direct medical care through radio communication with an ambulance crew regarding pre-hospital care if requested by the emergency room physician.

·       Work under the general professional direction of the Chief of Obstetrics/Gynecology Services.

·       Directly supervise resident physicians  and perform all administrative duties related to supervising resident physicians.

·       Actively engage in resident education and teaching.

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

·       Degree/Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.). Degree as Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the U.S. or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body. Graduates of foreign medical schools practicing in the U.S. are required to possess both a medical license and certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMGP) or Fifth Pathway. Physician will have successfully completed an Undergraduate Program, Medical School (M.D. or D.O.), Internship, and Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.  

·       Internship/Residency:

Physician will have successfully completed an Undergraduate Program, Medical School (M.D. or D.O.), Internship, and Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

·       Board Certification:  Shall be board certified or board eligible by the Americano Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) and maintain professional credentials in accordance with regulations of the ABPN.

·       Additional Certifications: Must have the following hands-on certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

o  Basic Life Support (BLS)

o  Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

o   Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

·       Experience: OB/GYN Physician must have worked in the OR and Labor & Delivery a minimum of 1 year in the last 2 years.

·       Licensure/Registration:

o  Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine

o  Active DEA

·       U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen

·       English Language Requirement:  Shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.

·       Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.

Working Hours

HOURS:
12 hour shifts of either 0645-1845 or 1845-0645.

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Teamwork skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
