- Other Details: The facility is seeking two full-time locum tenens gastroenterologists to provide hospital-based care on a 7-on, 7-off schedule, each covering 14 (24-hour) shifts per month. Responsibilities include rounding, performing GI procedures, and handling both routine (12 cases per week) and urgent cases, with 12-hour in-hospital shifts followed by 12 hours of on-call coverage. Candidates must hold BLS and ACLS certifications, and have ERCP experience. Required skills include upper and lower GI endoscopy, esophageal dilatation, small bowel biopsy, colonoscopy with biopsy/polyp excision, and Sengstaken/Blakemore tube management. The facility provides on-site lab and imaging, utilizes EMR documentation, and expects call-back rates of 10% for weekdays, weekends, and ICU cases.

Job Responsibilities
- Handle urgent cases as well as routine procedures, with a target of 12 routine cases per week (24 per month).
- Work 12-hour in-hospital shifts with an additional 12 hours of on-call coverage, responding to urgent cases as needed.
- Collaborate with other gastroenterologists on-site for comprehensive patient care.
- Utilize EMR documentation systems for hospital records.
Qualifications
- BLS & ACLS certification.
- ERCP experience (must specify years of experience at the time of name clearance).
- Active Colorado medical license or eligibility through IMLC.
- Ability to supervise urgent and routine gastroenterology procedures in a hospital setting.
Working Hours
- 14 (24-hour) shifts per month per physician on a 7-on, 7-off schedule.
- 12 hours of in-hospital work, followed by 12 hours of on-call coverage.
- Expected call-back rates: weekdays (10%), weekends (10%), ICU (10%), ER (0%).
Skills
- Competency in upper GI endoscopy (biopsy, foreign body removal, fulguration of bleeder, injection and banding of varices, PEG placement).
- Experience with esophageal dilatation, small bowel biopsy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy with biopsy/polyp excision, and Sengstaken/Blakemore tube management.
- ERCP (diagnostic & therapeutic) experience preferred.
- Ability to manage hospital patients (0-5 per day, including ICU cases) in a Level III trauma center.
