We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Locums Gastroenterology Physician to join our team on a locum basis in Alton, IL. The role primarily focuses on performing colonoscopies in the GI lab, with additional responsibilities including inpatient rounding, outpatient clinic work, and GI consults. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care in a community hospital environment, with a manageable patient volume and a collaborative team.

The Gastroenterology Physician will be responsible for performing colonoscopies in the GI lab for 4 days a week and seeing patients in the outpatient clinic for 1 day per week. Each day will involve 8-9 hours of work, including performing 12-13 procedures on lab days and seeing around 20 patients in the clinic. In addition to outpatient duties, the physician will provide inpatient rounding as needed. The position also includes covering overnight weekday call and performing EDGs and in-house consults for stable GI issues. This role offers a balance of procedures, clinic work, and patient management in a supportive environment.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
  • Illinois State Licensure (must be active).
  • DEA, CSR Certification required.
  • ACLS, BLS Certification.
  • Experience in performing colonoscopies and managing stable GI consults.
  • Ability to cover overnight weekday call and handle inpatient rounding.
