We are seeking a board-certified Gastroenterologist for an ongoing locum tenens assignment. This position offers 24-hour call-only coverage, focusing on inpatient consults and procedures. The role requires expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterology, including advanced endoscopic procedures.
  • Trauma Level: Level 2.
  • PEDs Level: 0.

  • Flexible scheduling and potential for ongoing assignments.

Job Responsibilities

Provide expert inpatient GI care, including consults and emergency response.
Perform a range of GI procedures, such as:
Upper GI endoscopy (with biopsy, foreign body removal, and fulguration of bleeders).
ERCP (diagnostic and therapeutic).
Colonoscopy (with biopsy and polypectomy).
Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS).
Esophageal dilatation and manometry.
Liver biopsies and PEG placements.
Respond promptly to calls within the required 30-minute response time.

Qualifications

Certification: Board-certified in Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology (required).
Licensure: Active Florida medical license (required).
Certifications: ABLS, ACLS, BLS, and PALS (required).
Fellowship in Gastroenterology is preferred but not required.
Experience with Cerner and Athena EMR systems is advantageous.

Working Hours

Start Date: ASAP
Coverage Period: 24-hour coverage from January 16, 2025, through February 21, 2025.
Call Ratio: 1:2.
Average consults: 4-5 per day.
