We are seeking a highly skilled Gastroenterologist for locum tenens coverage. This is a call-only assignment covering inpatient consults, ED consults, and transfers. The ideal candidate is board-certified, proficient in a wide range of GI procedures.

Job Responsibilities

Provide expert consultation for inpatient, emergency department, and transfer patients.
Perform advanced gastroenterological procedures, including:
Upper GI endoscopy (with biopsy, foreign body removal, and fulguration of bleeders).
ERCP (diagnostic and therapeutic).
Colonoscopy (with biopsy and polypectomy).
Esophageal dilatation and manometry.
Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS).
Liver biopsies and other specialized GI procedures.
Respond to beeper calls within a 30-minute timeframe.

Qualifications

Certification: Board-certified in Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology (required).
Licensure: Active Texas license (required).
Fellowship: Required.
Certifications: ACLS (required).
Experience with Athena/Medhost EMR systems preferred.
Clean malpractice and background history.

Working Hours

Assignment Dates: March 8, 2025, 7:00 AM to March 16, 2025, 7:00 AM.
Coverage Type: Call Only (beeper).
Call Ratio: Flexible; must be available for immediate response to consultations and admissions.
Response Time: 30 minutes for call-backs.

Proficiency in both diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterology procedures.
Strong clinical decision-making skills in high-pressure environments.
Ability to collaborate effectively with hospital staff and referring physicians.
