Job Details:
- Formal training and experience in advanced endoscopic procedures is preferred.
- Candidates should have a demonstrated track record of leadership and team-building skills, with prior leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Provide clinical oversight and guidance for endoscopic procedures, ensuring adherence to best practices, quality standards, and patient safety protocols.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including administrative leadership, nurses, technicians, and support staff, to optimize patient care delivery and outcomes.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the endoscopy unit.
- Serve as a clinical resource for complex cases, procedural techniques, and clinical decision-making.
- Partner with nursing, administrative, and quality leaders to participate in quality assurance programs to monitor and improve the quality of endoscopic services.
- Establish clinical protocols, guidelines, and performance metrics to measure and enhance patient outcomes and experience.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and guidelines governing endoscopic services.
- Stay abreast of changes in regulations, policies, and best practices related to endoscopy and gastroenterology.
- Work closely with quality assurance, risk management, and compliance teams to address regulatory issues and maintain a culture of safety and compliance.
- The Division of Gastroenterology comprises 30 gastroenterologists, hepatologists, and advanced practice providers.
- Providers see approximately 35,000 outpatients per year for a variety of GI and liver-related problems.
- Physicians perform approximately 25,000 procedures annually, including over 2,000 advanced procedures with anesthesia in a state-of-the-art endoscopy unit.
- Many physicians are frequently recognized in local and national publications as among the best in their field.
- The Division offers a collegial and supportive environment.
- The GI Division has an ACGME accredited GI Fellowship Program and an advanced endoscopy fellowship program.
- Staff physicians hold academic appointments at UMass Medical School and will educate fellows, residents, and medical students.
Candidate Requirements:
- Completion of a 4th year fellowship in advanced endoscopy.
- Training and/or experience in performing therapeutic endoscopic procedures including EUS, ERCP, endoluminal stenting, and Barretts ablation.
- Strong academic credentials, superb clinical skills, and the ability to engage effectively with patients and colleagues.
- A solid work ethic and well-developed organizational skills to manage care in a fast-paced environment focused on quality and safety.
