Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Gastroenterology Physician to join our team in Little Rock, AR. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing and treating gastroenterological diseases and performing related surgical procedures. This role involves providing comprehensive clinical services, including both outpatient and inpatient care.

Job Responsibilities

Direct Patient Care: (Estimated 90% of the time)

Provide clinical Gastroenterology services, including diagnosis and treatment of Gastroenterology diseases.
Be present on time for scheduled clinics and surgeries, ensuring physical presence in the clinic or operating room at the scheduled start time.
Perform a variety of Gastroenterology procedures, including but not limited to EGD, Colonoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound, and ERCP.
Scope of Procedures:

EGD Procedures: EGD with endoscopic ultrasound, biopsy, band ligation of varices, removal of foreign bodies, control of bleeding.
Colonoscopy Procedures: Diagnostic colonoscopy, colonoscopy with biopsy, removal of tumors, polyps, or other lesions by snare technique.
ERCP Procedures: Perform ERCP as needed.
Intraoperative Follow-Up:

Provide presence in the endoscopy suite for all procedures.
Offer consultative services at the patient’s bedside for non-ambulatory patients and in the clinic setting for ambulatory patients.
Communication of Test Results:

Ensure mechanisms are in place to provide timely notification of test results in accordance with VHA Directive 1088.
Medications:

Adhere to established medication policies and procedures, ensuring no sample medications are provided to patients.
Discharge Education:

Provide thorough discharge education and follow-up instructions coordinated with the next care setting for all Gastroenterology clinical or surgical patients.
Administrative Duties: (Estimated 5% of the time)

Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and meetings.
Attend committee meetings as required by the facility Chief of Service, Chief of Staff, or designee.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements: Medical degree from an accredited institution.
Licensure: Current and valid state medical license.
Board Certification: Board certified in Gastroenterology.
Experience: Relevant experience in clinical Gastroenterology, including a variety of surgical procedures.
Compliance: Knowledge of and adherence to established medication policies, procedures, and patient safety standards.

Working Hours

Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday
