Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Gastroenterology Digestive Health Services - Lexington located in Lexington, N.C. is seeking a Gastroenterologist to join their growing team, who is committed to providing high-quality patient care. Our clinics offer a collaborative and supportive environment.

The providers at Gastroenterology Digestive Health Services - Lexington, offer a full range of primary care services for children, treats many digestive conditions affecting the esophagus, gallbladder, intestines and other parts of the digestive system. Outpatient endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures are offered at Gastroenterology Lexington, a service of Lexington Medical Center.

Common digestive condition symptoms include:

  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Chest pain or burning in chest or throat
  • Acid reflux
  • Dry cough or sore throat

Outpatient procedures at Lexington Medical Center:

  • Colonoscopy: an examination of the colon using a soft, flexible fiber-optic instrument through which biopsies and polyp removal can also be performed.
  • EGD (Upper Endoscopy): This procedure uses a soft, flexible fiber-optic instrument to examine the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum; a number of therapies can be performed with this instrument as well.
  • Sigmoidoscopy uses a flexible, fiber-optic tube to examine limited portions of the lower colon.

Job Responsibilities

What You’ll Do:
Physicians work to care for patients in a variety of ways, from treating chronic illnesses to advising about preventative healthcare. While physician specialties might vary, the commonality across specialties is that physicians primarily work to diagnose and treat injuries and illnesses. They often do this by performing physical exams, taking medical histories, performing and interpreting diagnostic tests, and recommending a plan of treatment.

Qualifications

Physician Requirements: 

Graduation from an accredited medical school as a M.D./D.O.
Successful completion of residency and at an accredited healthcare institution. 
Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License as a current M.D./D.O.
Board certification in Gastroenterology.
Current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) required 
Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing required
