Job Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Under the Direction of the Medical Director, the Staff Physician is responsible for providing direct patient care, as well as direction, supervision and provider consultation to SJMCS clinic staff. This position is responsible for quality assurance; medical chart and lab review; adherence to clinical protocols and pharmacy and radiology procedures; and compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, PCER, and OSHA regulations. Helps to ensure adherence to laws, regulations, and professional standards pertaining to quality patient care in the ambulatory setting. In the absence of the medical director, assists in directing the Physician Dispensary and medical materials/technology under his/her DEA and GA physician’s license.

*Provides patient care and/ or support activities appropriate to ages served; primarily adults ages 18-65 or geriatric patients ages over 65. May also include care for infant age 0-1 year, child ages 1-12 years or adolescent ages 13-17 years.

Job Knowledge:
Clinical expertise and competence in providing direct services and medical consultation is required. Knowledge regarding the role and scope of practice of mid-level providers, particularly nurse practitioners. Knowledge of effective and efficient clinical operations is required. Good staff supervisory skills. Familiarity with health problems specific to immigrants, the medically underserved and homeless population preferred. A working knowledge of principles and practices of administration, including planning, organization, and financial and personal reporting practices as required by state.

Qualifications

Active GA license and DEA - Required
Board Certified in FM or IM - Required
Graduation from a state approved school with specialty in Family Practice or Internal Medicine - Required, IM preferred
5+ years experience after training - Required
BLS - Required
Local only, mileage is reimbursed. Mileage cost not to exceed $50/day. Client will not pay for hotel, rental car, or travel. All other travel needs to be included in other rates - Required, no exceptions
Bilingual in Spanish - Highly Preferred
Familiarity and experience in treating medically underserved and immigrant populations, including dealing with patients of diverse backgrounds, with experience in treating the homeless - Highly Preferred
Experience in the supervision of professional staff and/or administrative experience - Highly Preferred
