Job Description
A 155-bed community-based teaching hospital in Southwest Georgia has an opening for a Family Medicine Residency Program Faculty Physician. An ideal candidate will be either an experienced physician or a recent graduate interested in pursuing a non-ACGME accredited academic fellowship, with availability to start in 2025.
About the Opportunity:
- Candidates should have a strong desire to work in medical education or academic leadership
- This opportunity is excellent preparation for candidates whose professional goals include teaching family medicine or gaining valuable GME experience needed to pursue a leadership role in a primary care organization
- The schedule is Monday through Friday from 8 am ? 5 pm
- On average, two clinic days, one precepting day, and dedicated administration time for GME education per week
- Call: Some call required (mainly during work hours or scheduled home call after hours to cover residents)
- There is no overnight call required unless the Physician chooses to participate in optional OB or inpatient adult medicine coverage
- Patient Volume is approximately 10-12 patients per half-day in the clinic
- Meditech EMR
- Duties of this position include providing direct care to clinic patients and educating residents through precepting; not required to have faculty experience; must be willing to perform full spectrum family medicine care and be willing to know OB (must have an understanding; not required to perform)
- Additional faculty duties include enhancing educational content and learning experiences by developing and delivering lectures to residents during didactic sessions, collaborating with faculty on program projects, and supporting program development and innovation.
