Each provider is responsible for an average caseload of 40 patients, many of whom do not have chronic medical conditions. The expected admissions average 3 per week. Occasionally, the provider may be required to cover house duties as needed.
Responsibilities encompass conducting admissions and history and physical examinations (H&P), performing medical evaluations, and ordering necessary laboratory tests. Providers will also facilitate transfers to local emergency rooms when required, address chronic medical issues, and manage medication reconciliation. Additionally, they will order and interpret laboratory results as needed.

Job Responsibilities
• Assess cases during the intake process.
• Complete and sign admission certificates and provide testimony in court when necessary.
• Order and analyze laboratory tests.
• Perform initial physical examinations (H&P) and establish patient diagnoses.
• Formulate and implement treatment plans.
• Conduct follow-up examinations and document any changes in progress notes.
• Prescribe medications and oversee their administration.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Inform nursing staff of any unusual treatment protocols and address their inquiries.
• Offer clinical guidance to staff involved in direct patient care.
• Recommend treatment strategies for complex clinical cases.
• Provide backup coverage for other pavilions and assist with intake assessments.
• Act as the officer of the day, being on-call for consultations or emergency medical situations.
• Participate as a member of the medical committee, attending pavilion and program meetings, case evaluations, audits, and utilization reviews.
• Engage in all required training sessions.
Qualifications
• Possession of a current, unrestricted Illinois medical license, board certified or eligible in Internal or Family Medicine.
• Valid Illinois Controlled Substance certificate.
• Current unrestricted DEA registration.
• Completion of a Mantoux skin test certificate prior to commencing work or appropriate documentation.
