Job Description
Chester Mental Health Center is seeking two PRN physicians (MD/DO) to provide onsite, on-call coverage from 4:30 PM to 8:00 AM, Monday through Wednesday. The role involves covering shifts to ensure patient care, including performing initial history and physical exams, evaluations for admissions, and providing follow-up care. The physician will be responsible for making initial diagnoses, developing treatment plans, ordering lab studies, and responding to emergencies, including psychiatric and medical emergencies. The physician will also provide on-call services for patients in restraints, falls, or other emergent situations, and collaborate with attending physicians and psychiatrists as necessary.

Job Duties

• Perform initial history and physical exams (H&P)
• Evaluate patients for admission and make initial diagnoses
• Develop and implement treatment plans
• Order lab tests and provide follow-up care
• Sign admission certificates and review restraint or seclusion orders
• Respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies
• Provide on-call services and assess patients in restraints
• Participate in consultations and make referrals to acute hospitals

Qualifications / Requirements

• Current unrestricted Illinois Medical License
• Current Illinois Controlled Substance certificate
• Current unrestricted DEA certificate
• Mantoux skin test (or documentation of negative test within 90 days)
• Experience in a mental health setting preferred but not required
• Board eligible candidates accepted

Physical Requirements

• Ability to assist in restraining adult inpatients as needed

Schedule & Availability

• Available days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
• Shift hours: 4:30 PM – 8:00 AM (or 4:30 PM – 10:00 AM as needed)
• No adjustments to hours available for holidays
• PRN, on-call coverage required
