We are seeking an Ambulatory Advanced Practice Clinician for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology – Division of Gynecologic Oncology/Complex Gynecology at Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital. The APC will augment a physician's ability to provide medical and surgical services to patients in the clinic setting. The APC will work in collaboration with physicians and staff providing direct patient care services, performing consultations, collecting and documenting data, assisting in diagnostic and therapeutic office-based procedures, and ordering and scheduling laboratory and imaging studies. Primary hours will be Monday through Friday.

Preference for 2+ years of ambulatory work experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in OBGYN. Candidates with experience in Medical Oncology and General Surgery may also be considered.

Job Responsibilities

  • Care for patients with gynecologic malignancies and complex benign gynecologic conditions such as dysplasia, hyperplasia, and germline genetic mutations, endometriosis, adenomyosis and endometriosis.
  • Obtain patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record data in the patient's record; write progress notes; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings; obtain psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assume responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients.
  • Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic-therapeutic procedures; explain necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects to the patient.
  • Participate in perioperative and postoperative ambulatory care.
  • Utilize medical decision making to create an individualized patient plan of care.
  • Perform and/or assist with IUD placement/removal and diagnostic/therapeutic procedures such as colposcopy, cervical-vulvar-vaginal biopsies, and endometrial biopsies to aid in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care. Report progress to collaborating physician and maintain record of each patient's progress.
  • Assists with prior authorizations and peer-to-peer review for insurance denials of medications/planned surgeries.
  • Assists with completion of FMLA/disability papers for post-operative patients.
  • Electronically renews appropriate long term medications (i.e. hormonal contraceptives, neuromodulators, NSAIDs, antifungals, etc.)
  • Assists/performs counseling, consenting, and collecting data for research projects as they arise.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure clinic coverage as well as timely response to patient and phone messages.
  • Participate in teaching students, fellows and residents.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Job Hours

Primary hours will be Monday through Friday with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients.
