Seeking BE/BC Family Medicine Physician to join practice in Framingham, MA as a primary care provider and APP Trainer.

The APP Trainer will work in a hybrid role that will include training newly hired Advanced Practice Providers while also providing medical services for patients. The APP Trainer is a member of the clinical practice team and works collaboratively with other team members in providing patient care. This is a full-time role that will include 20 hours of direct patient care and 20 hours of APP support, training, education, and professional development.


Training Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, train and evaluate new Advanced Practice Providers (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant).
  • Perform chart reviews based on an established schedule:
    • All charts for the first month of a new hire's employment.
    • Up to 10 chart reviews for each month following.
  • Coordinate MAVEN services which include:
    • Coordinate CME educational sessions with site medical directors
    • Meet with APP assigned MAVEN mentor at designated times to begin after new APP's 3rd month of employment
  • Observe and shadow APP
  • Evaluate APP based on competencies including:
    • History taking
    • Physical exam skills
    • Analyzing data
    • Management/plan formation
    • Procedures
    • Problem solving hazards and biases
    • Medical practice and principles
  • Provide constructive feedback to App for the course of two years and possibly longer as the APP develops the role.
  • Support organizational compliance and training requirements and work with APP's to complete any required or newly required trainings.
  • Participate in Administrative Projects as assigned by the Medical Director.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct medical care for four sessions per week, complete clinical administrative work four hours per week.
  • Adhere to established protocols, responds to medical emergencies within the facility assigned.
  • Assists/instructs other health care employees in the management of client care.
  • Make referrals to health care professionals, specialists, other clinics and community agencies.
