JOB SUMMARY

The Regional Medical Director is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of medical care and service quality at the regional level. This role includes 50% administrative oversight and 50% direct patient care. Working closely with the Market Medical Director and Executive Leadership, this position ensures consistent, high-quality patient care across all healthcare centers, aligning strategic goals with on-the-ground medical services. The Regional Medical Director plays a critical role in creating an efficient, cohesive, and patient-centered healthcare system within the region.


Job Responsibilities

· Provides leadership in delivering medical care, optimizing cost management, conducting utilization reviews, and ensuring quality assurance.

· Collaborates in developing and reviewing written clinical policies, protocols, and guidelines for clinicians.

· Partners with insurance plans to meet established clinical and quality benchmarks.

· Develops and implements disease management programs and supervises risk coding.

· Leads recruitment, selection, and performance appraisal of medical provider staff.

· Works with management to oversee provider productivity, budget planning, and clinic performance metrics.

· Reports clinic performance outcomes to Market Medical Director and Executive Leadership.

· Monitors the quality and appropriateness of care, analyzing patient satisfaction and clinical feedback.

· Supervises continuing education, in-service training, and new staff orientation.

· Reviews and enhances care documentation standards and oversees care planning.

· Ensures compliance with OSHA, emergency preparedness, infection control, and regulatory guidelines.

· Supervises Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), including ARNPs and PAs.

· Manages physician behavior and impairment issues.

· Analyzes and implements improvements for adverse events and patient complaints related to medical care.

· Provides direct patient care within clinic scope of practice.

Qualifications

· MD or DO from an accredited school of medicine.
· Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the selected state.
· Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described including related work experience.
· Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
· At least 3 years of experience as a primary care clinic Medical Director preferred.
· Board certified in one of the primary care specialties preferred.
· At least 5 years of experience working with multi-cultural patient population delivering patient-centered programs that are high quality and cost effective preferred.
· Experience working in a Value Based Care practice setting preferred.
