Since 1997, Centurion has proudly partnered with the Georgia Department of Corrections to provide mental health services. We are excited to announce that we will now also be expanding our services to include medical care. Centurion is actively seeking a Primary Care Physician as a Regional Medical Director with Utilization Management experience.
The Regional Medical Director is combined with utilization management and female health. This position will require 1 to 2 days per week onsite at women’s facilities and the other days at home or regional office meetings. The UM duties involve making physician determinations of medical necessity for specialty referrals from the providers across all sites which do not meet criteria after review by the UM nurses. The role will also involve occasional inpatient medical necessity reviews when escalated by Centurion’s UM case managers during the instances where an inpatient no longer meets criteria or other concerns arise. The role may also involve chart reviews of avoidable hospital days and unnecessary services of identified during claims reviews.
This position entails 50 percent of time to be spent on UM and 50 percent on the women’s facilities oversight and care.

Qualifications
• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school required
• Active and unrestricted MD/DO license or the ability to obtain one required
• Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine required
• Must show/be able to obtain active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration
• Correctional healthcare experience preferred
• Ability to pass credentialing and background check
