Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and skilled Ford Fleet Mechanic to join our team and take on the crucial role of maintaining and repairing our fleet of vehicles. This is an onsite, in-person position where you'll be responsible for diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring that all vehicles, including emergency and para-transit vehicles, are maintained to the highest standards. You'll play a key role in keeping our fleet safe, operational, and reliable to meet daily demands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on fleet vehicles, including Ford trucks, emergency vehicles, and other heavy equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair engines, transmissions, electrical systems, air conditioning, and brake systems.
- Conduct preventative maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
- Collaborate with drivers and operators to diagnose problems and ensure vehicles are in optimal working condition.
- Maintain service records and documentation, ensuring all vehicles meet safety and operational standards.
- Train and mentor junior automotive technicians, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Manage shop operations, including work assignments, part orders, and overall fleet readiness.
What We're Looking For:
- In-depth knowledge of Ford vehicles, focusing on engine parts, systems, and repair techniques.
- Experience with diesel and gasoline engine repair, internal combustion, and alternate fuel systems.
- Ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, cooling, air conditioning, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in using automotive diagnostic tools and repair shop equipment.
- Skilled in recognizing and resolving complex mechanical issues independently.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to safety protocols.
Required Skills & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a fleet or automotive mechanic, with specific knowledge of Ford vehicles.
- ASE Certifications in A4 (suspension and steering) and A5 (brakes) for automobiles and trucks.
- Valid and unrestricted driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Personal tool set to perform duties.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Vocational or technical training in mechanics or automotive maintenance.
- Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certifications are a plus.
- EVOC certification (must be obtained within 30 days of employment).
