The Battle Creek VA Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary Care Physician to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive healthcare services to our veteran population, ensuring high-quality medical care and support. The physician will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered care, focusing on prevention, wellness, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of medical conditions.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive medical assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients, addressing both acute and chronic health conditions.
• Provide primary care services, including preventive care, health education, and counseling.
• Manage a panel of patients, ensuring continuity of care and follow-up.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, specialists, and allied health staff, to provide coordinated care.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and protocols.
• Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) for documentation and communication with the healthcare team.
• Provide emergency care as needed and respond to urgent medical situations.
• Engage in continuing medical education and professional development activities to maintain clinical competencies and stay updated on medical advancements.
• Adhere to all VA policies, procedures, and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
• Valid medical license to practice in the state of Michigan.
• DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances.
• Strong clinical skills with experience in primary care settings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
