Adventist Health Ukiah Valley is actively seeking Associate Program Director to join our team in stunning Mendocino County. This is a rare opportunity to work near the redwoods and the Northern California coastline, within driving distance of San Francisco. This is an ideal administrative & teaching position for someone interested in working with an outstanding team, including family medicine physicians and residents through collaboration with our Rural Family Medicine residency program Adventist Health Ukiah Valley (ahfamilyresidency.org) in Ukiah, CA.
Summary: The Associate Program Director will play a crucial role in maintaining the educational mission, scholarly activities, clinical excellence, and administrative components of our Graduate Medical Education program. Reporting to the Program Director, the Associate Program Director will assist in shaping the future of medical education by guiding residents through a comprehensive curriculum, while engaging and precepting the residents and other learners in clinical settings. Candidates must demonstrate passion for community health, dedication to family medicine education, and excellent clinical and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assume leadership in the absence of the Program Director, ensuring the continuity of the residency program.
- Design, monitor, and enhance assigned curricula, including setting clear goals and objectives.
- Provide faculty advisory support and leadership to residents.
- Collaborate with the Program Director in developing and executing resident didactic lectures and hands-on curriculum.
- Contribute to grant-funded activities and support resident's quality improvement research projects.
- Assist in planning and organizing resident orientations, retreats, faculty retreats, and CME events.
- Contribute to recruitment and retention efforts to foster a diverse and talented resident cohort.
- Participate in the evaluation and assessment of residents and other learners.
- Serve on various committees, including graduate medical education, clinical competency, and program evaluation.
Administrative Duties:
- Collaborate with the Program Director to oversee clinical and business activities of the family medicine residency clinic impacting the residency and graduate medical education department.
- Supervise faculty's evaluation, advising work with residents, and contribute to the residency grievance process.
- Qualifications:
- Board certification by ABFM in appropriate specialty or subspecialty.
- Active CA medical license and DEA certification.
- Annual CPR certification.
- Graduation from an accredited medical school with completion of a Residency program.
- Minimum of two years of documented educational and/or administrative experience as a faculty member in a residency program or college of medicine.
- Strong time management and communication skills.
- Attitudinally suited to lead and contribute to a training program.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with ACGME regulations.
- Experience in clinical practice and teaching in the specialty.
- Commitment to ongoing CME requirements of the ACGME.
About Our Residency
Adventist Health Ukiah Valley Family Medicine Residency Program was established in 2019 to address the rural health crisis and create full-spectrum family physicians who are well trained to take on the needs of their communities. Unopposed as the only residency program in our county, residents have individualized training at our rural sites and actively participate in local community projects. Our residency program is a 6-6-6 program, affiliated with UC Davis, and ACGME-accredited.

Wage Scale: $258,465 -$328,609

About the Medical Center:
Adventist Health Ukiah Valley (AHUV) is part of the North Coast Network of Adventist Health, which includes two acute care facilities, three critical access medical centers and a center for behavioral health. AHUV is a faith- based, not- for- profit health and wellbeing organization located in the county seat of Mendocino County, operated as a 49- bed hospital with 735 associates, 167 medical staff members and 18 affiliated clinics offering both specialty and primary care services to Mendocino County and surrounding Lake County communities. Our new emergency department operates with a physician on duty 24- hours a day and is designated as a level IV trauma center. Community Overview:
Nestled in the Ukiah Valley, Ukiah is a mid-sized town surrounded by vineyards, pear orchards and redwood-covered hills. Ukiah's strong sense of community is clearly present in its numerous town celebrations, festivals, and events, including the Ukiah Country PumpkinFest, which celebrates Ukiah's rich agricultural tradition each October. All sorts of recreational opportunities can be found at Lake Mendocino, just five miles from Ukiah, with over 100 family picnic sites, boat launching ramps, fishing, a swimming beach, hiking trails and much more. For entertainment, Ukiah boasts several theatrical companies. The Grace Hudson Museum makes for another entertaining diversion, featuring exhibitions of the works of artist Grace Hudson as well as local, regional, and Native American artists. Ukiah is located about two hours north of San Francisco and one hour from the Pacific Coast and redwood forests.
