Job Summary: As a Hospitalist, you will be a vital member of our healthcare team, providing comprehensive medical care to patients admitted to our hospital. You will be responsible for managing the medical treatment and coordination of care for patients during their hospital stay. This role requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
Job Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
Provide primary care services to patients of all ages, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and seniors.
Conduct thorough medical assessments, examinations, and evaluations to diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses.
Develop and implement personalized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and their families, emphasizing preventive care and health promotion.
Manage and coordinate the ongoing medical care of patients with complex health conditions, ensuring continuity of care and adherence to evidence-based guidelines.
Clinical Duties:
Perform routine procedures such as vaccinations, suturing, wound care, and minor surgical procedures.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory tests, imaging studies, and electrocardiograms.
Prescribe medications, therapies, and other treatment modalities based on clinical findings and patient needs, while emphasizing safe and effective medication management practices.
Patient Education:
Educate patients and their families about health maintenance, disease prevention, and self-management strategies.
Provide counseling and support to patients regarding lifestyle modifications, dietary changes, and medication adherence to optimize health outcomes.
Foster open communication and collaborative decision-making to empower patients in managing their health and well-being.
Documentation and Compliance:
Maintain accurate and comprehensive electronic medical records (EMR) documenting patient encounters, assessments, treatments, and follow-up plans.
Adhere to regulatory requirements, quality standards, and best practices in clinical documentation, billing, and coding.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, including nurses, medical assistants, specialists, and other providers, to ensure coordinated and integrated care.
Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing medical education activities to enhance clinical knowledge and skills.
Hospitalist-
Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive medical assessments and diagnose patients admitted to the hospital.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, including specialists, nurses, therapists, and social workers.
Monitor and manage acute and chronic medical conditions, ensuring timely interventions and adjustments to treatment plans as needed.
Perform medical procedures and interventions, such as central line placement, lumbar punctures, and thoracentesis, as appropriate.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures.
Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes in electronic medical records.
Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education about diagnoses, treatment options, and post-discharge care instructions.
Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to optimize patient outcomes and enhance the delivery of care.
Collaborate with outpatient providers to facilitate seamless transitions of care and ensure continuity of care for patients post-discharge.
Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including compliance with quality and safety standards.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine-Pediatrics.
Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of New Mexico.
Current DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances.
Strong clinical competency and proficiency in primary care diagnosis and treatment.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to establish rapport with patients and colleagues.
Commitment to providing patient-centered, evidence-based, and culturally competent care.

Hospitalist-
Qualifications:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
Current state medical license and DEA registration.
Completion of residency training in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
Demonstrated clinical competence and proficiency in managing complex medical conditions in an acute care setting.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment.
Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care with compassion and empathy.
Willingness to participate in continuing medical education and professional development activities.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience working
as a hospitalist or in a similar acute care setting. 2. Advanced certification or training in hospital medicine or a related specialty.
Proficiency in utilizing electronic health record systems for documentation and order entry.
Experience with quality improvement initiatives and clinical research projects.
Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals.
Familiarity with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and reimbursement policies related to hospitalist practice.

Working Hours
8-5 M-F
Hospitalist-
Working Conditions:
Hospitalists typically work full-time hours, including weekends, holidays, and evening shifts, to provide 24/7 coverage for hospitalized patients.
The work environment may involve exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and emotionally challenging situations.
Hospitalists may be required to participate in on-call rotations and respond to urgent medical issues outside of regular business hours.
