Job Responsibilities
Health Promotion and Disease Prevention: Educating patients about healthy lifestyle choices, preventive measures, and disease management strategies to improve their overall health outcomes.
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures: Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests such as blood work, imaging studies, and electrocardiograms (EKGs), and performing minor surgical procedures or in-office treatments as needed.
Medication Management: Prescribing and managing medications, including reviewing medication histories, monitoring for potential drug interactions or side effects, and adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
Referrals and Coordination of Care: Coordinating care with specialists as needed, referring patients to appropriate healthcare providers or facilities for further evaluation or treatment, and ensuring seamless transitions between different levels of care.
Patient Advocacy: Advocating for patients' needs and preferences within the healthcare system, helping them navigate complex medical decisions, and ensuring they receive high-quality, patient-centered care.
Medical Documentation: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records, documenting patient encounters, treatment plans, and follow-up care according to legal and professional standards.
Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, such as nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and specialists, to provide comprehensive, interdisciplinary care and achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Community Engagement: Engaging with the local community to promote public health initiatives, participate in health screenings or outreach programs, and advocate for policies that improve access to healthcare services and address social determinants of health.
