Job Description

Last Update: 6/17/24

Dear prospective hospitalist teammates,

I am the medical director of the Sound hospitalist program at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital, situated in Dyersburg, Tennessee, and I have had the privilege of being a part of Sound for the past two years. I take immense pride in the hospital medicine practice we have cultivated and am excited to extend an invitation to physicians who are either fresh out of training or considering a career change. Allow me to share more about our people, practice, and purpose:

Our Team:
  • We are a tightly-knit, well-established team of eight physicians, one advanced practice provider, and the invaluable support of a clinical performance nurse.
  • Our daily rounding model involves three providers, with an average patient census of 12-15 per provider and a 4-hour on-call block.
  • During on-call periods, admissions can range from zero to a maximum of around four to five.
  • We take great pride in our ability to sponsor H1B and J1 visa candidates. Sound provides excellent in-house visa specialists, licensing, and credentialing experts. All necessary filing fees for visa applications are covered, and services are provided at no cost to our team members.
Our Practice:
  • We thrive on challenging cases and operate in an open ICU. Our facility boasts general and interventional cardiology, an on-site cath lab, pulmonology, nephrology, general surgery, urology, GI, endocrinology, orthopedics, and wound care services.
  • Additionally, we have a dedicated nocturnist who covers the 7p-7a shift.
  • For those who have a passion for teaching, we collaborate with APPs from Bethel University and are actively working to expand our teaching services.
  • Our team convenes monthly for meetings to discuss performance metrics and address any group matters or issues.
  • We value work-life balance, with the option for a flexible schedule, and a commitment to covering for one another when a team member is on leave. Our standard rotation is seven days on and seven days off, spanning Monday through Sunday.
  • Benefits encompass comprehensive healthcare coverage, including medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, a 401k plan with a matching component, paid medical malpractice insurance, tail coverage, and an annual CME allowance.
Our Purpose:
  • Above all else, our focus is on putting patients first. Always.
  • We emphasize growth and development as a central feature of Sound practices. Teammates have the opportunity to expand their careers locally and within the broader medical group.
  • We are a community-minded team that actively encourages our members to contribute both within and outside of the hospital, fostering the well-being of our local community.

People are drawn to Dyersburg, Tennessee for its serene, small-town atmosphere and the genuine sense of community that prevails. The town’s welcoming environment, combined with its affordable cost of living, makes it an ideal place to call home.
