Patients Per Day: 10
Patient Population/Age: Adult
Support Staff:
OR team and CRNA
APPs available most of the time (depending on vacation, sick leave, etc.)
Department Description:
Settings: Outpatient and Inpatient GI
Procedures Preferred:
Upper GI with foreign body removal
Fulguration of bleeder
Injection of varices
Banding of varices
ERCP, ERCP with PEG
Liver biopsy
Insertion/management of Sengstaken/Blakemore tube
Additional Information: GI works Inpatient only but will perform some outpatient procedures occasionally. Anesthesia supports GI Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Outside these hours, anesthesia support is available on an on-call basis to the OR.
Special Procedures: EUS, ERCP
Requirements:
Board Certification: BC in Gastroenterology
State License: South Carolina (SC)
DEA: Yes
CSR: Yes
Certifications: BLS, ACLS
Minimum Experience: 2 years
Credentialing Timeframe: Expedited
Skills Required:
Upper and lower GI with biopsy
Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
Esophageal dilation/manometry with interpretation
Small bowel biopsy
Lower GI endoscopy
Sigmoidoscopy (Rigid)
Colonoscopy with biopsy
Colonoscopy with excision of polyp
Advanced Endoscopy skills are highly preferred
Practice Setting: Hospital-based Ambulatory
