Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Medical Director with a strong background in population health to join our team. The ideal candidate will lead our medical staff in developing and implementing innovative strategies to address the health needs of our community while ensuring the delivery of exceptional care at every level.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a hybrid role, balancing direct patient care responsibilities with administrative duties, ensuring a comprehensive approach to healthcare delivery and organizational leadership.
  • Provide clinical expertise and guidance to healthcare providers, serving as a resource for complex cases, clinical decision-making, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Actively participate in patient care activities, including consultations, assessments, and treatment planning, to maintain clinical proficiency and stay connected to patient needs and experiences.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans, leveraging clinical best practices and evidence-based guidelines to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Allocate time effectively between clinical and administrative responsibilities, prioritizing tasks based on organizational goals, patient needs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and participate in multidisciplinary meetings, committees, and task forces to address clinical, operational, and strategic issues impacting patient care delivery and population health management.
  • Oversee provider scheduling, productivity, and efficiency to ensure optimal clinic operations and patient access while maintaining high-quality care standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate clinical performance metrics, patient satisfaction scores, and population health outcomes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing targeted interventions as needed.
  • Engage in physician recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts to build a diverse and talented medical team capable of delivering exceptional care and driving organizational growth.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and knowledge sharing among medical staff, promoting a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Represent the organization in external forums, conferences, and professional associations, advocating for patient-centered care, population health initiatives, and healthcare innovation.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, department heads, and other stakeholders to develop and implement strategic initiatives, business plans, and performance improvement strategies to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical departments, administrative teams, and external partners to facilitate communication, collaboration, and alignment of goals and priorities.
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory changes, industry trends, and best practices in healthcare delivery and population health management, applying knowledge to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification in a relevant medical specialty (e.g., Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics).
  • Active, unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of New York.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in population health management, healthcare analytics, and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Proven track record of building collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders and driving organizational change.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in healthcare delivery and workforce development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MPH, MBA, MHA) or certification in healthcare management, population health, or related field.
  • Experience working in a community health center, academic medical center, or integrated healthcare system serving diverse populations.
  • Familiarity with value-based care models, accountable care organizations (ACOs), and alternative payment arrangements.
  • Proficiency in healthcare IT systems, electronic health records (EHR), and data analytics platforms.
