ABEM, ABPS EM boards – American Board of Physician Specialties (No ABIM or ABFP)

EMR: Meditech-midgrade version with Dragon

Volume: 26K

# ED Beds: 19 beds in main ER and 4 Fast Track beds, as well as hall space and additional space if needed. Physicians and APC’s cover both Fast Track and main ED.

APCS will triage patients in separate room if needed should there be a lot of patients waiting

Board Certification Required: ABEM and must have several years of post-Residency experience

Patients per hour: Under 2 patients per hour

Shift Times: The schedule changes based on physicians preference. Every day there is physician double coverage between 1p-5p. So total there is 28 hours of physician coverage. The shift hours vary but typically 7a-5p/1p-11p/11p-7a. They accommodate night providers who prefer 12 hour shifts. They can also block shifts. APC hours vary by season and day of week. Depths of winter they have 16 hrs of coverage. In the height of summer they may have 24+ hours of coverage.
