Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Emergency Medicine Physician to serve as the Global Emergency Medicine Fellowship Director. This role offers the opportunity to blend clinical expertise with leadership in global health, education, and research. The ideal candidate would bring experience in global emergency medicine, a commitment to educational excellence, and a passion for advancing emergency care worldwide.
Job Responsibilities
· Clinical Practice: Provide high-quality emergency care in VUMC’s busy emergency department, which treats over 200,000 patients annually. As a clinical leader, model best practices in patient care, emergency protocols, and teamwork while contributing to the training of residents and medical students.
· Global Health Initiatives: Expand Vanderbilt’s academic partnership with Georgetown Public Hospital in Guyana. Lead efforts in capacity building, emergency care system strengthening, and global health education. Foster collaborations with Vanderbilt’s Global Health Institute to enhance global health impact.
· Research and Scholarship: Drive research in global emergency medicine, securing funding, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at national and international conferences. Encourage and support fellows' research endeavors, fostering a culture of inquiry and evidence-based practice.
· Educational Outreach: Design and implement educational programs, workshops, and resources aimed at improving emergency care in resource-limited settings globally. Participate in public speaking engagements, webinars, and other forums to advocate for global health initiatives and emergency medicine education.
Qualifications
· Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in emergency medicine, with significant exposure to global health initiatives and academic leadership.
· Proven track record of educational leadership and driving global health projects.
· Strong clinical and emergency care expertise, excellent mentorship and communication skills, and proficiency in research methodology, grant writing, and academic publishing. The ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and cultures.
