JOB OVERVIEW
• Job Title: Physician - Emergency Medicine
• Job Type: Locum Tenens
• Location: Texarkana, Texas
• Service Setting: Emergency Department (Level IV Trauma Center)
• Coverage Type: Clinical Only
• Coverage Period: February 3, 2025 – August 2, 2025 (6+ months assignment)
• Clinical Shift Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 7 AM – 7 PM & 7 PM – 7 AM

• Patient Demographics: Adults, Pediatrics
• Annual Volume: Approximately 10,400 patients
• Patient Volume: ~28.5 patients per day
• EMS Percentage: 12.6%
• Admitted Patients: 5.3%
• Case Mix: General Emergency Medicine

FACILITY INFORMATION
• Trauma Level: Level IV
• ED Beds: 10
• EMR System: Epic
• Support Staff Available: Physicians Only (No NP/PA coverage)
• Specialty Backup Available: Limited
• Reason for Coverage: Staffing needs for consistent coverage

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
• Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
• Temporary Privileges Available: Yes (30-60 days for temporary privileging, expedited if provider has a clean file)
• Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 30-60 days
• Orientation Requirements: 4-hour remote EMR training (mainly offered on Mondays) and in-person hospital orientation with shadow shift

REQUIRED PROCEDURES
• General Emergency Medicine procedures
• No NP/PA coverage, so must manage all cases independently

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Licenses: Active Texas State License
• Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, BLS (ATLS can be expired for EM Boarded physicians if previous certification can be shown)
• Experience:
- Must have completed an Emergency Medicine (EM) or Family Medicine (FM) residency
- FM candidates must demonstrate active practice in an Emergency Department setting with a census exceeding 10,000 visits per year within the last two years
• Other Qualifications:
- Board Certification by ABEM, AOBEM, ABFM, ABIM, or equivalent
- Must hold an MD degree

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Deliver high-quality emergency care to patients in a fast-paced environment
• Manage 12-hour shifts, independently handling approximately 28.5 patients per day
• Participate in required orientation and EMR training
• Adhere to hospital protocols and compliance standards
