Physician specializing in Emergency Medicine in Bay City, MI, provides immediate and critical care to patients in emergency situations. This role involves diagnosing and treating a wide variety of medical conditions, injuries, and traumas that require urgent attention, while working in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. The Emergency Medicine Physician will be responsible for managing patients in the emergency department (ED), stabilizing critical cases, and coordinating care with specialists when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:

Provide emergency medical care to patients presenting with acute illnesses or injuries.
Perform quick, accurate assessments and diagnoses to determine the best course of treatment.
Administer emergency medical procedures, including but not limited to resuscitation, trauma care, intubation, and wound care.
Stabilize patients and prioritize care based on medical severity using triage principles.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as lab work, imaging, and other urgent diagnostic assessments.
Communicate with patients and families to explain diagnoses, treatments, and necessary follow-up care.
Monitor patient progress in the emergency department and provide continuous assessment.

Job Responsibilities

Family Medicine Procedures/Skills: Adult Outpatient, Pediatric-General Outpatient, Newborn resuscitation, Orthopedic-Non-displaced fractures, Suturing of minor lacerations, Incision & Drainage, Psychiatric-Uncomplicated adult, Psychiatric-Uncomplicated child/adolescent, Psychiatric-Uncomplicated geriatric, Diagnosis & management of common industrial-related medical problems, Ventilation management-establishing & maintaining an airway; various modes of ventilation for up to 24 hrs w/o pulmonary consultation, Evaluation & management of acute volume/BP issues, Central Line, Arterial Line, EKG Interpretation, Arthrocentesis, Lumbar puncture, Paracentesis, EM related procedures.

Qualifications

Board Certified (No BE), will accept IM/FM with minimum of 2+ years of recent ED experience - Required
MI License - Required at time of clear, no exceptions - not accepting IMLC - Required
Certification Requirements: ACLS, BLS, PALS - Required

Working Hours

All shifts are 9 or 10 hour shifts
