Job Description:

We are seeking a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician to provide locum tenens coverage at a Trauma Level 3 facility in Western Michigan. The physician will provide emergency care to a primarily adult patient population in the emergency department (ED). This position requires no on-call responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Emergency Department Care: Provide comprehensive emergency care, managing an average of 36 patients per shift.
• Admissions: Manage 3 admissions per shift as needed.
• Patient Assessment and Treatment: Perform evaluations, initiate treatment plans, and oversee patient care for a variety of urgent medical issues, including trauma, acute illnesses, and medical emergencies.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the support team of 2-3 ED RNs and 1 PA (Monday through Friday, 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM) to provide timely and effective patient care.
• Documentation: Use the Meditech EMR system to document all patient interactions, diagnoses, and treatments.

Qualifications:

• Board Certification in Emergency Medicine required.
• Active Michigan State Medical License (or ability to obtain).
• BLS and ACLS certification required.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in emergency medicine, preferably in a trauma level 3 facility.
• EMR proficiency: Experience with Meditech EMR preferred.
• Availability to commit to the full assignment and provide continuity of care.

Schedule:

• Shifts Per Month: Coverage is on a rotating basis with ongoing scheduling needs. This role is part of ongoing staffing support.
• Work Setting: Emergency Department, Level 3 Trauma Center.
• Credentialing Timeframe: Typically 30 days for full privileges, with temporary privileges available in 2-3 weeks.
