Key Responsibilities:

• Provide Emergency Department (ED) coverage
• Work 9- and 12-hour shifts during day hours
• Supervise Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) – 1-2 APPs during your shift
• Average ED volume: 77 patients per day
• Trauma Level: 3
• No inpatient responsibilities
• Teaching hospital: Opportunity to teach residents and medical students
• Provide coverage during peak shifts (11 AM – 11 PM)
• Transfer rate: Less than 3% of patients transferred out
• EMR: Cerner Powerchart until June, then EPIC
• Work with a team of 1-2 physicians during the day and 1 physician during night shifts

Required Qualifications:

• Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM/AOBEM), Fellowship trained preferred
• ACLS and PALS required through AHA (ACLS and PALS waived if ER boarded)
• ATLS required for trauma privileges
• Iowa state license required (accepts IMLC)
• Clean background with no issues in the past 10 years
• Must be available for night shifts
• Faster privileging timeline (60-90 days)

• Annual ED volume: 33,000 visits
• Peak shifts: 11 AM – 11 PM
