**Job Title:** Medical Director, Cardiac Critical Care Unit (CVICU) **Job Category:** Physician **Job Type:** Critical Care **Job Location:** Albany, NY **Full-time, permanent Position** **Position Overview:** We are seeking an experienced intensivist to join as Medical Director for the Cardiac Critical Care Unit (CVICU) at Hospital. This full-time position provides an opportunity to lead a dedicated team and develop a robust CVICU intensivist model in collaboration with a thriving cardiac surgery program. As Medical Director, you will focus on advancing patient care, developing clinical protocols, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and mentoring staff in a state-of-the-art CVICU setting. **Key Responsibilities:** - Oversee the management and care of critically ill cardiac patients in an 8-bed CVICU. - Work closely with a team of 5 full-time cardiac surgeons. - Develop, implement, and maintain clinical protocols and best practices. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes. - Mentor and train staff, fostering a culture of excellence in cardiac critical care. - Serve as a liaison with medical staff and executive leadership, advising on clinical practices and strategy. - Drive quality improvement initiatives and patient-centered care. - Utilize clinical and technical knowledge to evaluate and improve care delivery systems and informatics. **Essential Functions:** - Lead and facilitate clinical leadership groups to ensure best practices. - Serve as the strategic liaison for CVICU/Critical Care efforts. - Ensure coordination of standards of care across the healthcare continuum. - Provide critical analysis and recommend revisions of clinical systems for optimal patient outcomes. - Coach and mentor new and existing leadership. **Qualifications:** - Board certification in Critical Care Medicine and/or Cardiology. - Extensive experience in managing patients with Impella and ECMO. - Strong leadership, communication, and change management skills. - Commitment to quality improvement and patient-centered care. **Compensation:** - **Base Salary Range:** $500,000 - $515,000 - **Medical Director Stipend:** $20,000 annually **Recruitment Package:** - Starting bonus - Relocation assistance - Comprehensive benefits package (health/vision/dental) - Paid malpractice, including post-employment tail coverage - CME time and expense allowance - Generous paid time off - Retirement savings program with employer matching
