The chosen candidate will work closely with an excellent Program Director and faculty who are actively engaged in both education and community service, with a sincere dedication to training the next generation of emergency medicine providers. In addition to responsibilities as a Staff Physician in the ED and a member of the Academic Faculty:

  • Responsibilities
    • Facilitate the PGY II EMS rotation block curriculum
    • Coordinate experience with the educational leadership the Office of the Medical Director: City of Austin/Travis County EMS System
    • Facilitate completion of a resident evaluation for the EMS block rotation
    • Design, facilitate and schedule the EMS lectures for the Residency didactic conference curriculum Participation in Resident Recruitment, Orientation, and Graduation, as well as Education Committee Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director
  • Additional Benchmarks
    • Academic appointment with University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School
    • EM Resident Lectures—4 per 18-month curriculum (at least one per six-month block)
    • EM Resident small groups/skills labs/simulation – 6 per 18-month curriculum
    • 50 hours conference attendance per year
    • Participate in 2 interview days per interview season
    • 2 scholarly projects with publication every 5 years
    • Clinical Hours limited to 28 hrs/wk, or 121 hrs/mo max

Hospital

Dell Seton Medical Center is the only Level I trauma facility serving Central Texas and is an accredited teaching hospital. It is also the fourth-busiest emergency department in Texas. This state-of-the-art facility was opened in 2017 and is recognized as a Certified Stroke Center and has been awarded Magnet Status for nursing excellence. The hospital serves as the primary safety net for the poor and uninsured as well as the primary teaching hospital for the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin.
