We are actively seeking a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician for a full-time locum tenens opportunity in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. This assignment is available immediately and extends through the summer of next year. The position offers 8-hour shifts with no call responsibilities, making it an ideal opportunity for professionals seeking balance in a busy emergency department setting.

This Level III Trauma Center features 38 beds and an annual emergency department volume of 44,000 patients. Physicians are supported by a full hospitalist team, ensuring no admissions responsibilities, and advanced practice providers (APPs) who work from 8am to 10pm daily. The trauma team must respond within 15 minutes, and physicians can expect to see an average of 12 patients per shift in this collaborative and supportive environment.

Hourly rate: $280-300/hour

Shift schedule: 8-hour shifts, 7am-3pm, with both day and night shifts available

Job Responsibilities

Provide high-quality emergency medical care in an active emergency department
Respond quickly to trauma cases as part of a multidisciplinary team
Work collaboratively with APPs, hospitalists, and trauma teams
Use Meditech Expanse EMR system for patient charting
No responsibility for floor codes or admissions

Qualifications

Active Massachusetts medical license (not accepting IMLC for this position)
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM)
Current BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications
COVID-19 vaccination required
Clean background with no history of malpractice

Working Hours

Shift schedule: 8-hour shifts, 7am-3pm, with both day and night shifts available

Working Environment:
Trauma Level III Center with 38 total beds
APP coverage daily from 8am to 10pm, ensuring a collaborative and supported work environment
No single coverage shifts; work with multiple physicians each shift
Trauma team required to respond within 15 minutes
Average 12 patients per 8-hour shift; 18 patients for 12-hour shifts
