The Opportunity

  • Responsible for teaching/advising residents and fellows.
  • Work closely with and support the Residency Program Director - Partner.
  • Responsible for following program requirements in accordance with the ACGME and all other accrediting agencies.
  • Responsible for supporting and delivering an engaging learning curriculum.
  • Ensure that Residency Programs meet all state, federal, and other regulations and guidelines and comply with ACGME standards.
  • Oversee and engage with all Residency Core Faculty, Clinical faculty, and Program Coordinators (if applicable).
  • Actively participate in recruitment and selection of new residents for admission to the program.
  • Assess performance of residents regularly.
  • Be a participating member of the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) and the Program Evaluation Committee (PEC).
  • Annually complete the ACGME faculty survey.
  • Remain clinically active.
  • Mentor and coach residents, advise them regarding their career and educational goals.
  • Administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competency areas.
  • Responsible for ensuring safe patient care at all participating sites.
  • Responsible for creating an environment of inquiry in the clinical setting.
  • Evaluate residents in a timely manner using competency based/milestone evaluations and via direct observation and other relevant evaluationmethods.
  • Participate in Quality improvement and Patient Safety initiatives.
  • Model professional behavior and effectively lead the multidisciplinary team within the system of care delivery.
  • Perform an adequate amount of scholarly activity including participation in national organizations and committees and research at the direction of the Residency Program Director - Partner.

Required Experience and Competencies

  • Physician with current, valid American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) certification or eligibility in relevant field/specialty and an active unrestrictive state license to practice medicine by the state medical board required.
  • Licensed physician as a Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school and completion of residency through an accredited residency program required.
  • Maintain membership and privileges on Hospital's medical staff and comply with and abide by the bylaws, rules and regulations, and the policies and procedures of Hospital's medical staff where services are being provided required.
  • Physician Partnership status required.
  • Experience with leadership/mentorship of residents required.
  • Scholarly activity within the last five years preferred.
  • Clinical and academic experience to ensure effective implementation of the ACGME program requirements.
  • Proficient working knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Ability to facilitate networking opportunities and create an environment that fosters mentorship and promotes the career advancement of Physician fellows.
  • Comprehensive and detailed understanding of national accreditation policies, educational administration, and hospital policies.
  • Ability to stay updated with the latest advancements, new developments, research, guidelines, and best practices in the relevant field/specialty.
  • Demonstrated proficiency at providing excellent patient care.
  • Strong teaching skills to effectively educate and mentor resident physicians.
  • Ability to communicate complex medical concepts in a clear and concise manner, use various teaching methods and techniques, and provide constructive feedback to support residents' learning and professional development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with residents, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Active listening skills and the ability to provide clear instructions and feedback and foster a positive learning environment.
  • Effective collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and integrity, including adhering to ethical guidelines, demonstrating a commitment to patient-centered care, maintaining confidentiality, and serving as a professional role model for residents.

Riverside Community Hospital - Riverside, California

  • An academic teaching hospital with an established in-house EM Residency Program affiliated with the University of Riverside.
  • The facility is a Level II Trauma Center with a 50-bed Emergency Department that sees 100,000+ annual ED patient visits and has a 20% admit rate.
  • The hospital is an Accredited Chest Pain Center, a Riverside County designated STEMI Receiving Center, and is equipped with a new helistop to provide high-speed access to the hospital.
