As a medical director at USACS, you will be responsible for collaborating with the hospital and nursing leadership while offering support to your physician staff. You will serve as a leader both within the emergency department, and as a leader within the organization. Details

  • Oversee the operations of the ED in collaboration with nursing leadership and hospital administration
  • Supervise the EM staff, per the bylaws, policies and procedures of the institution
  • Represent the ED in the community and within the hospital medical staff

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

  • ED Volume: 13,000
  • 10 monitored closed door rooms with three room fast track
  • ED has priority to 32-slice CT machine
  • Primary Stroke Center
  • TPA given with tele-neurology
  • 18% pediatric patients
  • 20% admission rate (combined true hospital admits and observation admits)
  • Hospitalists admit 95% of patients in hospital
  • Epic EMR
  • ED is its own department
  • Ultrasound machine in ED
  • PACS reading on sight during daytime hours; in Richmond at nights and on weekends; 24-hour lab with 1 hour turnaround time
  • Sedation agents include Propofal, Versed, Ketamine, Etomidate
  • RN to patient ratio: 4 RNs to 8 beds (peak); 3 RNs to 8 beds (low)
  • Splinting done by physicians, RNs
