Job Summary
Job Description
Dear prospective physician teammates,
I serve as the medical director for the Sound Physicians emergency medicine practice at Ashley Regional Medical Center in Vernal, Utah, situated in the northeastern part of the state near the borders of Wyoming and Colorado. Our EM group has been an integral part of this healthcare facility for the past two years. As you consider your options, here’s an overview of our people, practice, and purpose:
People
- We’re a tight-knit group comprising five physicians. Our team is diverse, hailing from various regions across the country. While English is our primary language, some of us are multilingual.
- Our medical staff is highly active, fostering professional development through CME activities and social events.
- Living in the High Desert of rural Utah offers many outdoor activities, including hiking, camping, fishing, mountain biking, off-roading, and water sports like water skiing, river rafting, and fly fishing.
- Ashley Regional Medical Center earned a Leapfrog grade A rating.
Practice
- Emergency medicine in our setting is demanding and requires confident practitioners. Being an hour away from a level 1 trauma center and having limited specialist support necessitates our capability to manage a wide spectrum of cases.
- Specialists available include pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, orthopedics, general surgery, neurology, physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R), ENT, and ophthalmology.
- Our scheduling is very flexible, and all providers support covering time off for personal or family emergencies, not just for leisure.
- We operate on day shifts of 10 hours from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and night shifts lasting 14 hours from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Currently, the average patient volume stands at 600 per month, distributed among five providers, with an average workload of 140 hours.
Purpose
- Our primary aim is to consistently deliver the best possible care to our patients.
- At Sound Physicians, fostering growth and development is a cornerstone of our practice. We provide opportunities for physicians to advance their careers both locally and within our broader medical group.
- We consider ourselves an integral part of the community, actively encouraging our team members to contribute both within and outside the hospital, thereby helping to ensure the continued prosperity of our local community.
If you’re considering a move to Vernal, Utah, the area appeals to many due to its picturesque surroundings in the high desert, offering a lifestyle embedded in outdoor activities like hiking, camping, and water sports. The area’s strong sense of community, complemented by its serene atmosphere and access to nature, makes it an enticing choice for those seeking a balanced and nature-rich living experience.
