The Opportunity

  • Seeking experienced Board-Certified Emergency Medicine physician for Emergency Medicine Residency Program Director.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Emergency Medicine Residency Program.
  • Work with a team of core faculty physicians to develop and implement educational curriculum.
  • Ensure compliance with ACGME accreditation requirements.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor residents in an environment that fosters an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Coordinate clinical rotations, ensuring a safe, supportive, and high-quality clinical learning environment.
  • Evaluate resident performance and support achievement of milestones.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to enhance educational resources and experiences.
  • Participate in institutional GME processes, including quality improvement, faculty development, and wellness initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison between the residency program, hospital administration, and accrediting bodies.
  • Incorporate up to date emergency medicine best practices into the training program.
  • Contribute to scholarly activities, including research, publications, and presentations.
  • Program Director final appointment will be contingent on ACGME and ARMC approvals. All candidates must have minimum qualifications deemed acceptable to these organizations to be considered for this position.

Required Experience and Competencies

  • Emergency Medicine board certification.
  • Extensive leadership experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of educational and/or administrative experience in an ACGME-accredited EM program as a core faculty member.
  • Medical degree (M.D. or D.O) from an approved institution.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in California.
  • Extensive scholarly activity record and productivity.
  • Strong team building, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Adaptability, creativity, and enthusiasm for teaching and patient care.
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Dedication to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.

The Practice

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center - Colton, California

  • EM Residency Program is a three-year ACGME accredited program with each class size of 11.
  • County of San Bernardino owned and operated medical center, serving the largest county in the continguous US.
  • Annual volume of 90k - 100k ED patients.
  • Level I trauma center.
  • Regional Burn Center, Stroke Center.
  • Strong GME presence with hospital currently sponsoring 15 ACGME accredited programs and a newly approved EM/IM combined residency program.
  • Main teaching hospital for LCME-accredited medical school, California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM).
  • Teaching site for many other medical schools and other professional schools including nursing, paramedics, PA, radiology technicians, etc.
  • Highly efficient ED with top operational metrics and engaged nursing leadership.
  • Competitive salary and benefit package; Program Director will have an additional stipend and protected administrative time.
